the tardis door, from the inside

.
DOCTOR WHO ::
I put my hand on the crystal knob and turned it. I moved the lever up and down at random, just like the Doctor told me to do. It was a clear crystal knob about the size of my fist, on top of a lever, that was very much like the other 99 levers, dials and buttons, on the huge TARDIS control panel. The crystal began to glow , on and off, with a white light, and then vibrate
"The TARDIS is gonna read my mind?" I asked the doctor.
"Yes,... don’t let go of the lever." the Doctor. said without looking at me from his console at the other end of the six person control panel.
The TARDIS will read your mind, your heart and your soul...and some other stuff" the Doctor added off handedly.
"Its gonna take me where ever I wanna go?" was my next question""it will take you where you need to go" said the Doctor "... and maybe also where you want"
I turned the knob and pushed the lever a few times and suddenly the white light stopped blinking and became steady, and brighter.
I glanced at the Doctor , but he still hadn't looked up from his console screen. Then I felt the lever push against my hand and stop at the bottom position. Now the Doctor looked up at me.
"Throw the lever up and we’re off!" He said with a big smile.  My thought right then was --
"Do whatever the nice Doctor Says" This line was a joke to me.  A kind of sarcasm. I didnt think
the Doctor ever "Got" the sarcasm of it, he thought I meant it when ever I said it to him.
"It could take me anywhere ?" I said with intentional trepidation in my voice.
"Yes" was his simple reply.  When I said nothing more and I didn't throw the lever
He impatiently added;   "Some people go to the age of dinosaurs , some go to the 2008 world series game in the USA", "Some go to their own birthday parties when they were 6 years old"
"Some go to see their dead friends from 2012 or 1944" ,"some go to see the American president get killed in Dallas, Some go to ancient Egypt to meet Cleopatra. " He became more and more impatient as he spoke.
" Do people ever go to the future?" I asked.
"Yes... but that’s very rare" he said.
'What about going to other planets ?",
"Yes...buts that’s even more rare"
Then the Doctor said , " Ether you throw that lever right now or we can forget this whole thing"
I threw the lever upwards and felt the TARDIS shake. We spun around and backwards
and sideways as we always did when the TARDIS moved through time.
then ...it was over , the TARDIS stopped moving and made a beep sound behind me where the "front" door was.
"We’re here !" said the Dr., all most yelling in his excitement.
"Go open the Door and look outside."
I'm not ashamed to admit, I was scared.   I had no idea what was outside that door.
The TARDIS had "decided" what was best for me. I was kinda at its mercy.
" Are you gonna come with me?" was my next question. "
"Only if the TARDIS tells me I should".
At this the Doctor returned his eyes to his screen and started reading.
He didn't reply to me for a long time so I asked " What is it saying?"
"Nothing" said the Doctor.  "There's nothing left to do but open that door".
He said this last bit very solemnly and stared at me with a very stern look.
I mustered all my strength and walked over to the door. ...MY door.
I grabbed both sides of the 2 way door and swung them open, both at the same time
....what I saw was....
