The Stranger Things kids may be preteens, but they do not want to be censored in Season 2. According to writer-directors Matt and Ross Duffer, the upcoming season will be more foulmouthed than ever before, and all because the cast fought to swear.
“Just getting profanity into the show was a big argument,” Matt Duffer told Wired.

The duo initially removed foul language from the second season's script by Netflix's request. Matt explained that at first, "we actually gave in and took out all the bad language, and the kids got really upset. Then I wrote Netflix saying I’ve got this army of 11- and 12-year-olds and they’re pissed off that we cut all the language. At least let us shoot alternate takes. That was, like, the day before we started shooting. And then Netflix said OK."
“When Netflix saw the first two episodes, they realized this is fine, it’s not going to turn off families,” Ross said.
“They’re much more foul-mouthed in Season 2 than in Season 1, but in real life it’s far worse. I’m like, I cannot believe that came out of your mouth,” he joked.
To be fair, they do have a lot to curse about. Their BFF has side effects from that time he spent in the Upside Down, their new friend Eleven has disappeared, and now there’s a whole new monster on the loose.
Yeah, you would probably swear too.

'Stranger Things' Season 3 Is Officially Happening

The showrunners have a four-season game plan for the people of Hawkins.

with Vulture, the Duffer brothers confirmed that their Netflix breakout hit is coming back for season three, with a fourth season also looking pretty likely.
Though they're characteristically tight-lipped about what's coming in season two, Ross Duffer did share that they "wanted to push things a bit," in the new run. "'I don't want to call it season two, I just want it to feel like a movie sequel.' If you have a successful movie, No. 2 is always a little bit bigger." As for their overall plan for the show, "we're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out."
